Mylie - Two Weeks Old

Mylie-isms for June

Saturday, June 11 Mylie Jo came home from the hospital with Mommy, Daddy and Grammie Marci. Her brothers (the cats), Tod & Copper, were waiting at the top of the stairs for her arrival. As soon as we came in the door, Tod came over to sniff her. She made a tiny little noise, and Tod panicked, rushed up the stairs and was not seen from for the rest of the day! He took a long time to come near her after that, and is feeling very displaced by his little sister. There's just not any room to jump into Mom's arms anymore!

Sunday, June 12 Mylie had her first sponge bath today. We did it on the kitchen counter, and it was only slightly tramatic. Mom and Dad still have a lot to learn about bathtime! It is a good thing that Grammie was there to go get things that Mommy and Daddy forgot. Mylie has a ton of hair, and it is very curly and gorgeous when it gets wet. By the time we got around to shampooing it, however, Mylie was tired of the bath and started screaming.

Monday, June 13 Tonight, Mylie got to sleep with Grammie, who wanted a turn before she had to leave. Mommy was more than happy to have a little more sleep. Grammie seems to have the magic touch, however. Mylie slept and slept and slept, and when Mommy finally woke up, she was sure something was wrong because Mylie had not woken up yet! Everything was fine though - she just loves her Grammie!

Tuesday, June 14 Grammie had to go home today. She did not want to leave! Later, we went to Overlake Hospital for our follow up appointment, and Mylie got her hearing tested. She can hear perfectly! We already knew that though, because whenever Daddy makes a loud noise (which he does often), she startles!

Wednesday, June 15 Today was our first appointment with Mylie's pediatrician, Dr. Morse. She is a very healthy baby, and in one week, she is already back up to her birth weight!

Friday, June 17 Tonight, we invited the Gray's over for dinner. Mommy and Daddy met Shannon and Jesse during their birthing class, and they live only a few houses down the street! Mommy would go walking with Shannon in the last month of their pregnancies to try and encourage their babies to come. Baby Anna was born just two days after Mylie, and they got to meet for the first time tonight.

Sunday, June 19 Today was Mylie's first day at church. She was very good and slept through the whole three hours. Daddy was very excited because she got to wear one of her pretty dresses. Daddy had been waiting from the time we brought her home so that he could play dress up with her. Mylie also got to meet Rebecca, who was born on the same day, just ten minutes after her!

Wednesday, June 22 Today, to celebrate Mylie's two week birthday, Mommy and Mylie drove 6 hours all the way down to Bend to visit with Grammie. Before we left, we also had lunch with Aunt Dana, and it was the first time Dana got to meet her. Mylie was a very good little traveler! She slept very well in the car, and Mommy would drive for three hours in peace. Just outside of Portland, we stopped to eat. Mommy got the experience of nursing in the car, and she also got really good at changing Mylie's diaper on her lap! Then Mylie went back to sleep for another three hours until we reached Bend. When we got there, Mylie also got to meet Grandpa Bryan, Great Grandma Bryan and Great Aunt Judy, Kathi and Alyssa, who drove up special just to see her. Mylie got to sleep with Grammie again, and again slept and slept and slept until Mommy got worried about her!

Thursday, June 23 Mylie got to meet her Uncle Cody for the first time today, and she loves him! Grandpa Bryan and Uncle Cody watched her for a few minutes while Mom and Grammie went out to get ice cream, but she started crying after a few minutes and the boys were a little overwhelmed.

Saturday, June 25 We drove back home to Seattle today. Mylie was a good traveler again, although the trip did not go quite as smoothly. Right as we hit the Washington border, we ran into construction which caused traffic to come to a standstill. Just then Mylie woke up and was HUNGRY! Mom could not get off the freeway for at least 20 minutes, and Mylie screamed the whole time. Mommy was very traumatized - much more than Mylie - and was sure she was causing permanent emotional damage to her child! But as soon as we got off the road and got to eat, everything was back to normal. Later that night, once we were home, we went with Daddy to the airport to pick up Grandma Winters, who flew up from Arizona to visit for a week. She was so excited to meet Mylie and brought her a cute outfit that is very "Arizona".

Sunday, June 26 When we got home from church today, Mommy went to change Mylie out of her Sunday clothes and discovered that her belly button stump had finally come off! We saved it to take a picture of, so that it can go in her Inappropriate Baby Book of Embarassing Moments to show off on her first Prom Night.

Tuesday, June 28 Today was Mommy and Daddy's Third Anniversary, and our first date night without the baby! Aunt Anneka came over to watch her with Grandma Winters. Mommy and Daddy went out to dinner at Salty's Restaurant. They had a good time but they were excited to get back to Mylie! Mylie had been a very good baby, and mostly slept while we were gone. Mommy had left a bottle of breast milk for Grandma Winters to use, but she didn't even need it, so after we got home, Daddy fed Mylie her first bottle. After that we all ate Wedding Cake that Daddy had ordered special for the evening. It was delicious!

Wednesday, June 29 We went back to visit Dr. Morse today for a follow-up. He looked at her eye, which had had some goo in it when we came back from Bend. He said it was probably a blocked tear duct, and nothing to worry about, and sure enough, it went away right after that. He also looked at her belly button which was still a bit gooey, and said to clean it with alcohol. Mylie had also gained over a pound in two weeks, weighing in at 10 pounds, 5 ounces. She was also up to 22 inches long. He said she was the picture of health. Later we all went and visited Daddy at his work, where he got to show Mylie off to some of his co-workers.
