…we’re becoming real people again. And nowhere could this be more evidenced than last night when the parents reclaimed our bedroom! Nolan, who has been sleeping 12 hours or more at night for the last couple weeks, finally made the switch to the Dr Seuss nursery we made for him and Mylie to share. We have been planning on having them share once Nolan was sleeping through the night, though I was truly surprised how quickly that happened. I was also surprised at how much I would WANT him to stay in with us. We kicked Mylie out of our room when she was 5 weeks old (and two of her first four weeks were spent out of town), and never looked back – it was a great move for all three of us. But the little guy was doing pretty well in with us, and I wasn’t in a big hurry to have him leave. Really, the decision was made in order to facilitate the spring cleaning mode we’re going through.
And, thus far, the experiment is working. The official Big Sister Report was that Nolan was crying for Mommy last night. But it wasn’t loud enough to wake Mommy up on the monitor, and no big sisters ever visited our room last night to get help. In fact, I don’t remember even waking up at all – even to listen to little baby grunts and moans – and feel incredibly well-rested this morning. Nice.
Nolan is on a GREAT schedule, taking two 2-3 hour naps during the day, plus the 12 hours at night. Now we just have to work out how this schedule coincides with Mylie’s nap and bedtime schedule and we’ll be set. So this two-kid thing may be the end of life as we know it, but it turns out, it’s not the end of the world
